Medical Assisting This course provides the learner with an overview of medical assisting as a career. Students learn about the job responsibilities of a medical assistant including patient interaction and communication, scheduling, and maintaining accurate patient records. The duty of processing insurance claims is described, and students examine various bookkeeping systems in an effort to manage an efficient billing cycle. The importance of taking inventory is discussed, as well as the steps in making a purchasing decision. Available specialized options for an administrative medical assistant are examined.
